Travelling by train is easy and safe: wear a face mask, keep your distance, buy a ticket!
People’s health in Lower Saxony is the most important thing, especially for metronom, the private German railway company.
Restrictions are beginning to be eased after affecting people’s lives for several weeks. That means: more and more people want to travel by train again.
The rules are both simple and straightforward.
- Travel with erixx- but please wear a face mask
To ensure all of our passengers and employees are well protected, everyone must wear a face mask.
- Please use window seats only - please keep aisles clear
The minimum distance of 1.5m is one of the most important protective measures. Therefore the following rules must be observed: Window seats can be used, but neighbouring aisle seats must be left empty. This also applies to families or members of the same household, in order to protect other passengers.
- Buy before you board
Nothing has changed in this respect. If you travel by train, you do need to have a valid ticket. Even though there have been fewer ticket checks than usual in the past few weeks, most passengers have still bought a ticket. You don’t buy a ticket for it to be checked – you buy it for your journey. If you travel without a valid ticket it is unfair to all others who have bought a ticket, and this also comes at the expense of the general public. It also violates the General Conditions of Carriage.
